The Green Bean Kid Shop was conceived in 2010 by original owner Traci Green as a resource for Los Angeles families offering a little bit of everything for everyone. The Green family envisioned a warm, friendly, comfortable place to buy, trade, play, and meet other families. The top priority was creating a happy and fun environment for kids and families to shop, learn, and be supported by a community of open-minded and creative spirits.
Today, new owner Jess Castaneda, carries on the tradition of its founder by ensuring that The Green Bean continues to offer families a wide selection of brand name and quality resale items at affordable prices including shoes, books, toys, cloth diapers, gear, and more. As a parent herself she knows the difficulties of finding clothes for a quickly growing toddler that both meet her lifestyle and budget. With a long career in retail as a buyer and creative director for several reputable fashion companies, Jess was able to find a way to merge her work and parenting experiences along with her love of resale and vintage by taking over ownership of The Green Bean. And all while making a positive impact on the environment by helping families to reduce waste by recycling and repurposing their lovingly used goods!
The Green Bean is not only a kids shop where your kids can play while you shop for resale that is in great condition! The shop also is proud to support the diverse talents of our local artists and parents by offering artisanal gifts and products. Additionally you can find art supplies, wooden toys, products made with eco-friendly material and nostalgic classics in the new toy shop. Oh, and did we mention that The Green also always has a vintage section that is stocked with the quirky and whimsical styles of the past?
"Love the store, love the story time with teacher Art, love Tracy the owner. All around awesome place to score cute kids items and entertain the little ones."
"Came in here several weeks ago as I was walking by with my two year old who is obsessed with Thomas the train. We aren't from around the area so it was by chance we decided to stop in and I asked if they had any Thomas trains. The lady there said she had some in the back in storage that weren't for sale but that I could take a few for my son. I was shocked! That was such a kind gesture! She dug out a box filled with various old and used Thomas trains. My son was so excited! She let us have a few for free and for the rest she only charged 25 cents each! This store wasn't trying to make money off of me when they very well could've taken advantage of the fact that my son wanted all the trains lol. I wish I had more time to browse around the store. Very appreciative of this woman. Go support this store. They deserve it!!"
"What a great find!!! I was spending the day with my sister and she brought me here. I had never ever really hung out in Eagle Rock before but sure glad I did this day. We strolled in and to our delight were captured by all the interesting things in this store. They specialized in children's articles, clothing, toys ect. The store is a consignment one but also carries new items. The owner happened to be there and was very friendly and welcomed us. She explained to us how their consignment process was. I just could not get enough of this store. I ended up walking out having bought many gifts for my three grandkids. I will definitely recommend this store to all my family and friends. I wish I would of had a store like this when my kids were little. Now my grandkids will benefit from this find! I'll be sure to be back."
